Overview

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a range of mainstream and specialist schools across Kettering and is looking to recruit dedicated SEN Level 2 Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs. We have opportunities available to suit your lifestyle, including long‑term positions, short‑term contracts and day‑to‑day supply.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Working alongside class teachers to deliver engaging learning activities.
  • Supporting pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language needs (SLCN), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and other additional needs.
  • Using a variety of communication and intervention strategies, including PECS, Makaton, visual timetables and sensory approaches where appropriate.
  • Promoting positive behaviour through consistent behaviour management techniques and de‑escalation strategies.
  • Assisting with personal care where required.
  • Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or have relevant SEN support experience.
  • Have previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
  • Are patient, caring and adaptable.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or are willing to apply for one through Tradewind Recruitment.
