Pastoral Support Officer
Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire. Contract: Full-time. Start Date: ASAP / January 2027.

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Pastoral Support Officer to join a supportive secondary school in Kettering. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is committed to improving the wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and overall educational experience of students. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom, building positive relationships and helping students to achieve their full potential.
The Role
- Providing pastoral support to students across the school.
- Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
- Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging engagement in learning.
- Working closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support student wellbeing.
- Monitoring attendance, punctuality, and student welfare.
- Supporting students through interventions and mentoring programmes.
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.
The Ideal Candidate
- Has experience working with children or young people in an educational, youth work, mentoring, support, or care setting.
- Has strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Is patient, resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Has a genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed.
- Can effectively manage challenging behaviour and support students with additional needs.
- Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one through Tradewind Recruitment.
