We are working with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Kettering that is seeking to appoint a confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor / Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

This afternoon-only position offers an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and is looking to gain valuable classroom experience while supporting pupils' learning and development.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during teacher absences, delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring pupils remain engaged in their learning.

During non-cover periods, you will provide Teaching Assistant support, working alongside class teachers to help pupils achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2 during teacher absences.
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Ensure pupils remain focused, engaged, and on task throughout lessons.
  • Support positive behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Work as a Teaching Assistant during non-cover periods, supporting individuals and small groups.
  • Assist pupils with classroom activities, interventions, and learning tasks.
  • Support teachers with classroom preparation and organisation where required.
  • Promote pupils' confidence, wellbeing, and independence.
  • Report any concerns or incidents to the appropriate members of staff.

  • Experience working with children in a school, childcare, coaching, youth work, or similar setting.
  • A confident, calm, and flexible approach.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to support across different year groups.
