Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting multiple Night Residential Student Mentors to join one of our specialist college partners from September 2026. We have a range of opportunities available, including full-time, part-time, temp-to-perm and flexible bank positions, with the majority of shifts taking place during evenings and overnight hours.
This rewarding role focuses on supporting students who live on-site whilst studying at college. For many young people, living away from home is a new experience, and the residential team plays a vital role in ensuring students feel safe, supported, and able to thrive within their residential community.
As a Night Residential Student Mentor, you will provide pastoral, wellbeing and welfare support throughout the evening and overnight period. You will be a visible and approachable presence within the residential accommodation, helping students with concerns, promoting positive routines, monitoring wellbeing, and responding appropriately to any issues that arise during your shift.
This is not a traditional care worker role. Instead, it is ideally suited to candidates with experience in education, student support, youth work, mentoring, safeguarding, pastoral care, or residential settings who enjoy building positive relationships with young people.
Key responsibilities include:- Supporting students living within residential accommodation
- Providing pastoral and wellbeing support during evening and overnight shifts
- Promoting a safe, welcoming and inclusive residential environment
- Monitoring student welfare and responding to concerns appropriately
- Supporting students with independence, confidence and life skills
- Working closely with residential, safeguarding and wellbeing teams
- Maintaining accurate records and handovers where required
- Experience working with young people or students
- A calm, resilient and approachable manner
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- An understanding of safeguarding and student welfare
- The ability to work independently and responsibly during overnight shifts
