A thriving and inclusive secondary school in Newham is seeking an organised, proactive and enthusiastic HR & Finance Administrative Assistant to join its dedicated Business Support Team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious administrator looking to develop their career within school administration, human resources and finance.
Working closely with the HR Officer and School Business Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the school's HR and finance functions while helping to deliver an exceptional service to staff across the school.

The Role
- Support the school's recruitment process, including advertising vacancies, arranging interviews and obtaining references.
- Assist with staff onboarding, inductions and safer recruitment compliance, including maintaining the Single Central Record and DBS documentation.
- Maintain accurate personnel records, staff absence records and HR databases.
- Provide administrative support for payroll changes, workforce census returns and HR reporting.
- Assist with Early Career Teacher (ECT) administration.
- Respond professionally to HR enquiries from staff.
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the finance team and School Business Manager.
- Produce reports, maintain filing systems and support data management.
- Assist with GDPR compliance and support the school's Data Protection Officer.
- Work collaboratively across the Business Support Team to ensure efficient school operations.
We Are Looking For Someone Who Has
- Previous experience in an HR, finance or administrative role.
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong ICT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A professional, confidential and approachable manner.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a team.
- Experience of working within a school environment, HR systems or finance administration would be advantageous but is not essential.
