About the Role
An inclusive SEMH secondary school in Derby City is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teacher from May 2026. You will support pupils with SEMH needs, helping them regulate behaviour, build confidence and re-engage with learning. The school provides a structured, nurturing environment with small classes, strong pastoral support and an experienced team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs across KS3 and 4
- Deliver behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
- Provide 1:1 and small-group learning and emotional support
- Implement behaviour plans and risk assessments
- Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and engagement
- Uphold safeguarding and welfare procedures
The Ideal Candidate
Calm, resilient and nurturing, with experience supporting SEMH or SEN pupils. Confident managing challenging behaviour and building strong relationships.
Essential Requirements
- SEMH/SEN/PRU or alternative provision experience
- Trauma-informed and restorative practice knowledge
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
- Right to work in the UK
