Are you passionate about making History, Geography, and RE come alive for young people? We are seeking a dedicated and degree-qualified Humanities HLTA to join a nurturing Alternative Provision in Accrington. This is not a standard classroom role; you will be working with students who have faced barriers to learning in mainstream education, helping them re-engage with the world through the lens of Humanities.
The Role
- Deliver Humanities: Lead and deliver engaging lessons across History, Geography, and Religious Education.
- Targeted Support: Work with small, focused groups of up to 5 students, allowing for high-impact, personalised instruction.
- Remove Barriers: Support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or SEND, using a trauma-informed approach.
- Collaborate: Work 5 days a week as a core part of a multi-disciplinary team to monitor progress and celebrate student success.
What We Are Looking For
- Academic Background: A Degree-level qualification (Humanities preferred) is essential.
- Subject Interest: A genuine "fire" for Humanities and the ability to make global issues relevant to our students.
- Resilience: The ability to remain calm and supportive in a challenging environment.
- Experience: Previous experience in an AP, PRU, or SEND setting is highly desirable, but a strong heart for student welfare is non-negotiable.
