A specialist education setting in High Wycombe is seeking an enthusiastic and capable SEN Sports Coach to support pupils aged 7-19 with a range of severe, complex and profound additional needs. The provision supports pupils with complex cognitive, sensory and communication needs, including autism, physical and cognitive disabilities, sensory processing needs and significant communication difficulties. The setting places a strong emphasis on communication, wellbeing, personal development, physical development and preparing pupils for greater independence. What you will be doing... Delivering and supporting structured sports and physical activity sessions for pupils with additional needs. Adapting activities according to individual physical, sensory, communication and cognitive needs. Encouraging pupils to participate in movement, exercise, games and recreational activities. Supporting pupils to develop gross motor skills, coordination, balance and physical confidence. Using sport and physical activity to encourage communication, interaction and positive relationships. Working alongside teachers, Teaching Assistants and specialist professionals to support individual pupil outcomes. Maintaining a calm, consistent and encouraging approach when pupils require additional support or regulation. Helping pupils develop independence and confidence through appropriately structured activities. Supporting the wider curriculum where required, including life skills and personal development Who we are looking for... You do not need to have previously worked in a special school to be considered. This role could suit: A qualified or experienced sports coach. A PE graduate or sports graduate. A Teaching Assistant with a strong interest in sport. A former or current school sports professional. An education professional with experience supporting pupils with SEND. Someone with experience in youth sport, disability sport or adapted physical activity. A confident individual who can build positive relationships with children and young people. Experience working with SEND pupils is desirable, but candidates with a strong sporting background and the right attitude towards specialist education are encouraged to apply. You will need to be patient, reliable and confident adapting your approach to individual pupils.
