We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Nailsea seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join its Student Welfare team.

This role supports pupils with additional educational needs and helps every child achieve their potential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom support for identified students with additional educational needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to deliver adaptive teaching strategies and ensure pupils can access the curriculum.
  • Support students to remain engaged, motivated and confident during lessons.
  • Assist pupils during break and lunchtime when required.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff and external agencies.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with colleagues in line with school procedures.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and support the Student Welfare team as required.

About You / Qualifications

  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent Level 2 qualification) in English and Maths.
  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably within a school or educational setting.
  • An understanding of how to support pupils with a range of additional educational needs.
  • Good ICT skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A calm, resilient and flexible approach.
  • A positive attitude with the ability to motivate and encourage students to achieve their best.
