As a Graduate seeking PGCE experience, Tradewind will be able to place you as a Cover Supervisor or a Teaching Assistant. How do the roles differ?
- Cover Supervisor: You will be required to oversee the completion of set work in the absence of the subject teacher. This role will help refine your behaviour management strategies as you are responsible for managing the behaviour of the class. You are required to safeguard students' wellbeing and provide feedback at the end of the day to the cover manager, including reporting any issues.
- Teaching Assistant: You could either work on a 1-2-1 or in a small group setting. The role may involve working with students with SEND or those identified as requiring catch up. As a Teaching Assistant, you will need to converse with the subject teacher to discuss specific requirements for the lesson.
