Are you a graduate with experience working with young people and the confidence to support teenagers with SEMH needs in an Alternative Provision setting? Tradewind Recruitment is working with a specialist AP in Rochdale and is seeking a Graduate Cover Supervisor to support pupils aged 11-16 who are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. This is a full-time role with the potential to become permanent.
The Role
- Supervise classes in an Alternative Provision setting
- Deliver pre-prepared work (no planning or marking)
- Support students with SEMH, SEND and behavioural needs
- Maintain structure, consistency and positive routines
- Manage behaviour calmly and professionally
- Build strong, trusting relationships with vulnerable learners
- Support engagement, attendance and classroom focus
We welcome applications from graduates with experience working with young people in:
- secondary schools or SEND or SEMH schools and provisions
- Youth work
- Sports coaching especially boxing and martial arts
- Drama, theatre or creative workshops
- Community or faith-based youth groups
- Summer camps, PGL or outdoor education
- Scouts, Guides, Brownies, Cubs or Duke of Edinburgh
Essential requirements
- Experience working with young people is essential
- Strong consistency, enthusiasm and reliability are essential
- Confident behaviour management and communication skills
- Ability to support teenagers with SEMH needs in a structured AP environment
The Provision
This Alternative Provision supports young people aged 11-16 who may have SEMH needs, autism, ADHD, anxiety or have been excluded from mainstream education. The focus is on structure, relationships and re-engagement in learning.
