We are actively seeking dedicated Freelance Geography Tutors and Teachers, both qualified and unqualified, to join our network of Alternative Provisions (AP) across Lancashire, starting from September 2025. This is a unique opportunity for adaptable educators to work on a freelance basis, offering the flexibility to choose your hours (part-time or full-time) and contribute to the success of students in non-traditional learning environments. About Our Alternative Provisions (AP) Network:

Our network of Alternative Provisions in Lancashire is committed to providing personalised, engaging, and supportive learning experiences for students who may struggle in mainstream settings. We focus on re-engaging learners, building their confidence, and fostering a love for education through tailored curricula and small group or one-to-one tuition. Our aim is to create pathways to success for every student, valuing individual needs and strengths.

The Role of a Freelance Geography Tutor/Teacher:

  • Delivering bespoke Geography lessons to students of varying ages and abilities (e.g., KS3, KS4 GCSE Geography, vocational geography units).
  • Creating engaging and accessible learning materials that cater to individual learning styles and needs.
  • Providing one-to-one or small group tuition, adapting your teaching approach to maximise student progress and engagement.
  • Inspiring curiosity about the world, its physical and human processes, and current global issues.
  • Monitoring student progress and providing constructive feedback.
  • Collaborating with AP staff to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Maintaining a stimulating and safe learning environment.

What We Are Looking For:

Essential (Qualified or Unqualified):
  • A strong passion for Geography and the ability to convey complex concepts in an engaging manner.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with diverse learners.
  • Patience, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to supporting young people who may face educational barriers.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule effectively.
  • A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
For Unqualified Candidates:
  • Demonstrable subject matter expertise in Geography and significant experience working with children or young people in an educational, youth work, or support capacity.
Highly Desirable (but not essential for all roles):
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Geography across Key Stages 3 and 4 (GCSE).
  • Prior experience working within an Alternative Provision (AP), Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) setting.
  • Knowledge of the UK National Curriculum for Geography.
  • An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
