How to prepare for a job interview at Tradewind Recruitment

Know Your EYFS Inside Out

Make sure you brush up on your knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. Be ready to discuss how you implement its principles in your teaching and how you support child development. This will show that you're not just familiar with the guidelines, but that you can apply them effectively in a nursery setting.

Showcase Your Leadership Skills

Since you'll be leading a Nursery class with the help of Teaching Assistants, it's crucial to demonstrate your leadership abilities. Prepare examples of how you've successfully led a team in the past, managed classroom dynamics, and supported your colleagues. This will highlight your capability to foster a collaborative environment.

Prepare for Behaviour Management Questions

Expect questions about behaviour management strategies, as this is key in an EYFS role. Think of specific situations where you've effectively managed challenging behaviour and how you created a positive learning environment. This will reassure the interviewers that you can maintain a calm and productive classroom.

Ask Insightful Questions

At the end of the interview, don’t forget to ask questions! Inquire about the school's approach to professional development, how they support staff wellbeing, or specifics about the nursery's routines. This shows your genuine interest in the role and helps you assess if the school is the right fit for you.
