The school is specifically looking for an English Graduate who wants to go on and begin their teacher training, offering an exciting pathway into the profession. The successful candidate will join the school for one full academic year, gaining extensive classroom experience while working alongside experienced teachers and receiving ongoing mentoring and professional development. Following the successful completion of the academic year, you will have the opportunity to continue your journey by completing your teacher training with the school, making this an outstanding opportunity for an aspiring English teacher.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils during English lessons to maximise engagement and achievement.
  • Delivering small group and one-to-one intervention sessions.
  • Assisting with lesson preparation and classroom organisation.
  • Helping students develop confidence in literacy, comprehension and written communication.
  • Providing additional support to students who require extra guidance.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and contributing to a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Observing experienced teachers and developing your own classroom practice in preparation for teacher training.
  • Playing an active role within the wider school community.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds a degree in English, English Literature, English Language or a closely related subject.
  • Is committed to pursuing teacher training and building a long-term career in education.
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Is enthusiastic, proactive and eager to learn from experienced teachers.
  • Can motivate and inspire secondary-aged students.
  • Has previous experience working with young people, tutoring, mentoring or coaching (desirable but not essential).
