Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking a resilient, empathetic, and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) school in Enfield. This setting supports children and young people who present with a range of needs including emotional regulation difficulties, behavioural challenges, trauma-related experiences, and additional learning difficulties. The school provides a structured, nurturing, and therapeutic environment designed to help pupils re-engage with education, build trust, and achieve positive outcomes.
We are looking for individuals who are calm under pressure, confident in building strong relationships, and passionate about supporting vulnerable young people both academically and emotionally.
The Role:
- Supporting pupils in class, in small groups, and on a 1:1 basis
- Assisting the class teacher in delivering differentiated learning activities
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management
- Using de-escalation strategies and restorative approaches where appropriate
- Helping create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Encouraging engagement, resilience, and positive behaviour for learning
- Supporting pupils in developing social skills and confidence
- Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children or young people (SEMH/SEN experience preferred but not essential)
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to remain composed in challenging situations
- A genuine interest in supporting vulnerable learners
- A team-focused attitude and willingness to learn
- Understanding of behaviour support strategies (desirable)
