Role Summary
Are you an enthusiastic educator looking for a Year 1 teaching job in Darwen? We are seeking a creative and dependable Primary Teacher to cover a maternity leave starting after the Easter break. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a Year 1 class through the summer term and the first term of the next academic year. You will be supported by a dedicated Teaching Assistant and a collaborative Key Stage 1 team who are committed to high standards of phonics and early literacy.
Responsibilities
- Continuous Provision: Balancing formal learning with creative, play-based opportunities.
- Phonics Screening Check: Preparing Year 1 pupils for the national phonics assessment in June.
- Curriculum Delivery: Planning and delivering high-quality lessons across all primary subjects.
- Transition Support: Managing the end-of-year transition for pupils moving into Year 2.
- Assessment & Reporting: Completing summative assessments and end-of-year reports for parents.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential (ECTs are welcome to apply).
- EYFS/KS1 Experience: A strong understanding of the Year 1 curriculum and Phonics (e.g., Read Write Inc. or Letters and Sounds).
- Commitment: Ability to commit to the full 9-month duration of the maternity cover.
- Location: Ideally based in or able to commute easily to Darwen (BB3) and surrounding areas.
- DBS: Must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new one.
