Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a passionate and creative Performing Arts Teacher to join a welcoming secondary school in Darlington on a full-time basis. This role will begin in September 2026 and will continue for the full academic year as maternity cover.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a supportive and forward-thinking school environment, delivering engaging and inspiring lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful candidate will encourage students to develop confidence, creativity, and performance skills through a dynamic and inclusive Performing Arts curriculum.
The role will involve planning and delivering high-quality lessons, assessing and monitoring student progress, and creating a positive learning environment where students feel motivated to participate and succeed. The ideal candidate will be confident teaching practical and theory-based Performing Arts lessons and have the ability to inspire a love for drama, performance, and creative expression.

Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching Performing Arts at secondary level
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Confidence delivering both practical and theory-based lessons
- A passion for creative education and student development
- Two professional references covering the last two years
- A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- A proactive, reliable, and adaptable approach to teaching
