About the Role
Are you a dedicated and patient individual looking for an impactful role in secondary education? Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to partner with a popular and community-focused secondary school in Dalton-in-Furness to recruit a 1:1 Teaching Assistant for the full 2026/2027 academic year. In this rewarding role, you will be providing tailored, one-to-one support to a secondary student, helping them navigate their daily timetable, access the curriculum across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, and reach their full academic and personal potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing dedicated 1:1 academic, emotional, and social support throughout the school day.
- Adapting learning materials and activities to suit the student's individual learning style and needs.
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and pastoral team to track and report on progress.
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive engagement in classroom activities.
- Implementing strategies outlined in the student's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
What We Are Looking For
- Experience supporting children or young people, ideally on a 1:1 basis in an educational or care setting.
- A warm, empathetic, and resilient approach with strong relationship-building skills.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing daily needs.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative working style.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to process one).
