Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking Creative Teaching Assistants to join our team of enthusiastic professionals working in primary schools across Southend. These roles are ideal for individuals who want to use their creativity to inspire, support, and engage children, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN).
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in both 1:1 and group settings, supporting pupils and working collaboratively with teachers and other staff in creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating environment. Your creative talents will be used to enrich lessons and help pupils with varying needs to engage through sensory play, social development activities, and interactive learning.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Supporting classroom activities under the guidance of the teacher
- Engaging pupils through interactive and creative methods such as music, role-play, storytelling, movement, and arts-based tasks
- Helping pupils with sensory integration within the classroom
- Promoting the development of independence and life skills
- Supporting the assessment of pupil progress and needs
- Encouraging social skills and helping pupils understand and respond to social cues
- Supporting behaviour management in line with school policy
- Collaborating with other staff and professionals to ensure the best outcomes for each pupil
- Communicating effectively with teachers, therapists, and families
- Ensuring school safeguarding, behaviour, and learning policies are implemented effectively
What We\βre Looking For
- A creative background (e.g., acting, drama, music, dance, arts)
- Enthusiastic, proactive, and passionate about working with children
- Experience with SEN is beneficial but not essential
- Ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with children and staff
- Willingness to assist with personal care and support learning in all areas
- A calm, patient, and caring attitude
