The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will step into the classroom in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students remain engaged and on task with the work that has been set. You'll play a key role in maintaining a positive learning environment and supporting students' progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials to classes across a range of subjects
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Ensure a calm, productive, and respectful learning environment
- Provide support and guidance to students where needed
- Report back to teaching staff on student engagement and any issues
- Adapt confidently to different schools and classroom settings
Requirements
- Experience working with young people (e.g. education, coaching, youth work, or similar)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively
- A flexible and adaptable approach to work
- Confidence in leading a classroom independently
- A genuine interest in education and supporting student development
- An enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
