This position offers a guaranteed full-time schedule from 1st June until the end of the academic year in July. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced education professionals to gain high-volume classroom experience in a supportive Furness-based school.

The Role

  • Classroom Oversight: Leading lessons for students aged 11-16, ensuring they remain focused and productive while their regular teacher is absent.
  • Work Delivery: Implementing pre-set lesson plans across various subjects—no subject specialism or prior planning is required.
  • Behaviour Management: Maintaining a positive learning environment by following the school's established behaviour and rewards policies.
  • Student Support: Assisting students with queries and providing the encouragement they need to complete their set tasks.
  • Zero Planning/Marking: Enjoy the benefits of school-based work without the evening workload of planning or grading.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Confident Presence: Ability to command a classroom and engage with groups of teenagers effectively.
  • Local Knowledge: Ideally based in or around Barrow, Dalton, or Ulverston for an easy daily commute.

  • Availability: Must be able to commit to the full 5-day-a-week schedule until the summer holidays.
