Role Overview

Mental Health Support Assistant – School Setting (Corby Area)

Responsibilities

  • Provide one‑to‑one and small group support for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Help students develop emotional regulation, confidence, resilience and positive coping strategies.
  • Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom to encourage engagement with learning.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students and act as a consistent source of support.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, pastoral teams and external agencies where required.
  • Assist in implementing behaviour support plans and wellbeing interventions.
  • Promote a safe, nurturing and inclusive school environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within education, youth work, care, support work or mental health settings.
  • Genuine passion for supporting children's emotional wellbeing and development.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
