Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with their mental health and emotional wellbeing? Do you have the experience, compassion, and resilience to support pupils facing emotional, behavioural, and social challenges?
We are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive all-through school in Corby, which is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Specialist to join their team from September 2026. This full-time, temporary to permanent opportunity involves supporting pupils across both primary and secondary phases, from EYFS through to Key Stage 4.
About the Role
- Provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEMH and mental health needs
- Support pupils across the school's primary and secondary phases, from EYFS through to Key Stage 4
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and provide consistent emotional and pastoral support
- Support pupils experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, low self-esteem, trauma-related experiences, or behavioural challenges
- Deliver or support targeted interventions focused on emotional regulation, resilience, self-esteem, emotional literacy, and positive behaviour
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff, safeguarding leads, and external professionals to implement appropriate support strategies
- Help identify barriers to learning and develop practical approaches to support individual pupils
- Provide support both inside and outside the classroom, encouraging pupils to engage positively with their education
- Monitor pupil wellbeing and progress, maintaining accurate records and communicating concerns appropriately
- Promote a safe, calm, inclusive, and supportive environment where pupils feel valued and understood
- Contribute to the school's wider mental health and wellbeing provision
We're Looking For
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, mental health, emotional, or behavioural needs
- Experience within education, youth work, care, residential settings, mental health support, or a similar environment
- A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships
- A good understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and professional boundaries
- The ability to adapt your approach when supporting pupils across different ages and developmental stages
- Relevant qualifications or training in mental health, psychology, counselling, education, youth work, or a related field are desirable
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people's emotional wellbeing and helping them reach their potential
