Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 for suitable candidates.
  • Teach students practical cooking skills, food preparation techniques, nutrition, and food safety.
  • Create a safe and stimulating learning environment within the food technology classroom.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress in line with school policies.
  • Differentiating lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and additional learning needs.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, achievement, and participation.
  • Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed within practical lessons.
  • Contribute to the wider Design and Technology department and school community.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Food Technology within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge, including food preparation, nutrition, and food hygiene.
  • Excellent classroom and practical lesson management skills.
  • The ability to inspire and engage students of all abilities.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
