Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for compassionate and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistants to join a well-established specialist school in Hillingdon, catering for pupils with complex learning needs, including autism, sensory impairments, physical disabilities, and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about inclusive education and supporting children with additional needs in a nurturing and structured learning environment. The Role:
As a Teaching Assistant within this complex needs school, you will:
Support pupils aged 4-11 with a range of learning and physical disabilities.
Provide 1:1 and small group support to encourage engagement and learning.
Assist with sensory-based and therapeutic activities designed to meet individual needs.
Support pupils with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting and mobility, where required.
Work closely with class teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure each pupil receives a tailored and holistic learning experience.
Promote independence, confidence and communication using visual, sensory, and physical aids.
The Ideal Candidate:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
Previous experience supporting pupils with SLD, PMLD or complex medical needs (in school, residential or care settings).
A patient, empathetic and adaptable approach to supporting children with high levels of need.
The ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
A good understanding of communication and sensory support techniques.
An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply).
Training in manual handling, Makaton, PECs or Team Teach would be advantageous, but is not essential.
