A specialist education setting is seeking dedicated and empathetic Learning Support Assistants to work with secondary-aged pupils who face significant barriers to engaging with school. The focus of this role is to help learners rebuild confidence, re-establish positive routines, and gradually re-engage with education in a structured and supportive environment.
Overview of the RoleYou will play a key role in supporting pupils both academically and pastorally, helping them to access learning in a way that meets their individual needs. Acting as a consistent and trusted adult, you will contribute to creating a calm, stable and encouraging environment where pupils can make meaningful progress over time.
Key Responsibilities- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and act as a consistent role model
- Provide targeted support in both 1:1 and small group settings
- Support emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement using appropriate strategies
- Deliver structured interventions to help remove barriers to learning
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, families and external agencies
- Monitor progress and contribute to records of engagement and achievement
