About the Role

Are you an experienced and nurturing Qualified Nursery Nurse looking to make a meaningful difference in specialised early years education? We are recruiting a dedicated Early Years practitioner to join a welcoming and specialist Alternative Provision (AP) based in Clitheroe. In this role, you will support young children with diverse emotional, social, and developmental needs, providing tailored interventions in a calm, structured, and stimulating setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored early years learning activities aligned with the EYFS framework, adapted for specialist provision.
  • Support children with complex needs, developmental delays, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) requirements.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment using positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Observe, assess, and document individual progress, contributing to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised learning goals.
  • Maintain rigorous safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety standards at all times.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Qualification: Level 3 CACHE / NVQ in Childcare / Early Years Education (or equivalent / higher).
  • Experience: Proven experience working within an Early Years setting; prior experience in SEND, SEMH, or an Alternative Provision (AP) / PRU setting is highly advantageous.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of early childhood development, trauma-informed approaches, and positive behaviour support (e.g., Team-Teach is desirable).
  • Compliance: Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Location: Commutable to Clitheroe, Lancashire.
