We are seeking a motivated, organised and enthusiastic Librarian to join our vibrant secondary school in the heart of Tower Hamlets. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in promoting reading, literacy and independent learning across the school. The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day running of the school library, creating a welcoming and inclusive space that supports students' academic progress, wellbeing and love of reading.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop the school library as a calm, engaging and purposeful learning environment
- Support students with reading, research and independent study
- Promote reading for pleasure and information literacy across Key Stages 3-5
- Organise, catalogue and maintain library resources (print and digital)
- Work closely with teaching staff to support curriculum learning
- Supervise students using the library during the school day
- Support literacy initiatives and events such as reading programmes and book fairs
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working in a library or educational setting (desirable)
- A passion for reading, literacy and young people's learning
- Strong organisational and ICT skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
