Urgent Vacancy: KS4 Child Development & KS3-KS4 Art Teacher - Alternative Provision
Location: Hatfield, Hertfordshire
Salary: London Fringe MPS ( 169 - 259 per day for QTS)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Minimum of 1 term (potential to extend)

Tradewind Recruitment is urgently seeking a versatile and resilient teacher to deliver KS4 Child Development and KS3-KS4 Art at a highly supportive alternative provision school in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. This is a September start role with interviews taking place this week.

About the School:

This alternative provision supports students who have experienced challenges in mainstream settings and require a more personalised, nurturing approach to learning.

About the Role:

  • Child Development: You will deliver the OCR Level 2 and NCFE Level 2 Child Care programmes to Key Stage 4 students. These include both examined and coursework-based units focusing on child growth, health, safety, and developmental support from birth to age five.
  • Art: You will also teach Art to students in Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them develop creative confidence and build portfolios through engaging, hands-on projects.

Child Development Units:

  • R057: Health and Well-being for Child Development (Exam)
  • R058: Creating a Safe Environment & Understanding Nutritional Needs (Coursework)
  • R059: Understanding Development of a Child from One to Five Years (Coursework)

These qualifications provide learners with valuable practical skills and pathways into careers in early years, education, and care.

Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds QTS (daily rate: 169- 259 depending on experience)
  • Is open to applications from unqualified teachers with strong vocational experience or related qualifications
  • Has experience teaching KS4 Child Development and/or KS3-KS4 Art
  • Has strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Is confident working with students who may display challenging behaviour or social/emotional needs
  • Is empathetic, patient, and committed to inclusive and restorative approaches to education
  • Can engage and motivate learners through creative, practical, and real-world teaching
