Tradewind Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded specialist SEND school in Chesterfield for an enthusiastic and dedicated Maths Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and welcoming specialist setting, teaching pupils with a range of additional needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), communication needs and associated complex needs.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and accessible Maths lessons that inspire confidence, develop problem-solving skills and help every pupil achieve their full potential. As part of a specialist trust, there may also be opportunities to work across other settings within the organisation.

The Role

  • Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons that are differentiated to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Adapt the curriculum to ensure all pupils can access learning and make meaningful progress.
  • Build positive relationships that encourage pupils to develop confidence and resilience.
  • Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP reviews, assessments and target setting.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral teams, therapists and families.
  • Create a safe, structured and nurturing classroom environment where pupils feel supported to succeed.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Specialises in Mathematics or has experience teaching Maths at KS3 and KS4.
  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEMH or other additional needs, or is keen to transition into specialist education.
  • Is patient, nurturing and genuinely care-focused.
  • Has high expectations while understanding that every pupil learns differently.
  • Can adapt their teaching style to engage learners with a wide range of abilities.
  • Is resilient, positive and passionate about making a genuine difference to young people's lives.

Pay Rate

The daily rate for this position is £160-£240 per day. Where you fall within this pay range will depend on several factors, including:

  • Your previous teaching experience.
  • Relevant qualifications, training and specialist SEND expertise.
  • The budget allocated to the role by the school.

While Tradewind Recruitment always strives to secure the highest possible rate for our candidates, the final daily rate will ultimately be determined by the school's available budget for the position. This means that candidates with similar experience and qualifications may receive different rates depending on the funding available for the role.
