High Needs Teaching Assistant - 2:1 Support | Specialist SEND School
Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEND school in Chesterfield that is part of a well-established Multi Academy Trust.
We are looking for an experienced and resilient High Needs Teaching Assistant to provide 2:1 support for pupils with complex SEND, including Autism, severe learning difficulties and behaviours that can challenge.
This is not a typical Teaching Assistant role.
The pupils require a high level of consistency, patience and specialist support.
There will be occasions where behaviours may include verbal aggression, physical aggression, self-injurious behaviours, property damage and attempts to leave the classroom.
The successful candidate must be confident working as part of a 2:1 team, following behaviour support plans and remaining calm in challenging situations.
While the role can be demanding, it is also incredibly rewarding.
You'll have the opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people with some of the most complex educational needs.
The Role
- Provide dedicated 2:1 support for pupils with complex SEND and high support needs.
- Build trusting relationships through consistency, structure and positive behaviour support.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication and engagement in learning.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and follow individual risk assessments and care plans.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to ensure pupils receive consistent support.
- Assist with personal care where required.
- The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with complex SEND, SEMH or behaviours that challenge.
- Confident managing physically and emotionally demanding situations in a professional manner.
- Calm, resilient and able to remain composed under pressure.
- Comfortable working within a 2:1 staffing model.
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with complex additional needs.
- Full-time availability.
- Pay Information
The daily rate for this role ranges from £95-£120 per day.
To be considered for the higher end of the pay scale: Significant experience supporting pupils with complex SEND and challenging behaviour is essential.
Full-time availability is required.
Final pay rate will also be dependent on the school's allocated budget and your level of experience.
