A welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Durham is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated Geography Teacher to join their humanities department from March 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4, developing their understanding of the world, human and physical geography, and the global challenges shaping our future.
Role Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Geography lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Teach across KS3 and KS4, covering physical, human, and environmental geography.
- Create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment that encourages enquiry, discussion, and independent thinking.
- Differentiating lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those requiring additional support.
- Monitor pupil progress, assess learning, and provide constructive feedback to support achievement.
- Prepare students for internal assessments and GCSE Geography examinations where applicable.
- Contribute to curriculum planning, resource development, and the ongoing improvement of the humanities department.
- Support whole-school values and contribute positively to the wider school community.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching Geography at KS3-KS4.
- Strong subject knowledge across physical, human, and environmental geography.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- A passion for developing students' curiosity about the world and contemporary geographical issues.
