How to prepare for a job interview at Tradewind Recruitment

✨Know Your SEN Stuff

Make sure you brush up on your knowledge of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and the specific challenges faced by students in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). Familiarise yourself with strategies for supporting students with SEMH, ASD, and behavioural issues. This will show your passion and commitment to making a difference.

✨Engage with Real Scenarios

Prepare to discuss real-life scenarios where you've successfully managed classroom behaviour or supported a student with additional needs. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers. This will help you demonstrate your experience and problem-solving skills effectively.

✨Build Rapport

During the interview, focus on building rapport with the panel. Show your personality and let them see your passion for teaching. Share anecdotes that highlight your relationship-building skills and how you’ve inspired disengaged learners in the past. A positive connection can make a lasting impression.

✨Ask Thoughtful Questions

Prepare some thoughtful questions to ask at the end of the interview. Inquire about the support systems in place for teachers and how they foster a nurturing environment for both staff and students. This shows your genuine interest in the role and helps you assess if the school is the right fit for you.
