Tradewind Education is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of General Science to join a welcoming and ambitious secondary academy in Barnsley on a temporary basis, starting in mid-September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Science teacher to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons that promote curiosity, critical thinking, and academic achievement.

Whether you are an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT), we would be delighted to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of learners with varying abilities and educational needs.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes excellent behaviour and engagement.
  • Support students in achieving their academic potential and developing a passion for Science.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives and uphold the academy's policies and procedures.
  • Attend relevant meetings, training, and professional development activities as required.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching General Science within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge across the Science curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
