Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND Support Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs? Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to be working with a well-established Special Educational Needs (SEN) School in Burton upon Trent to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team on a full-time basis from September. The Role - SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the school
  • Work with children with needs including:
    • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
    • Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD & SLD)
    • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
    • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
    • Physical and Complex Needs
  • Provide both 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning needs
  • Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and achieving their personalised learning targets
  • Promote independence, confidence, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour
  • Support the implementation of EHCP outcomes and individual education plans
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet pupils' individual needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, SENCOs, and wider multidisciplinary teams
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every child can thrive

Working Hours

Monday to Friday Full Time

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements

  • Hold a Level 1 Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 is desirable)
  • Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND Support Worker, Care Worker, or in a similar role supporting children or young people with additional needs
  • Have experience supporting pupils with SEND within either education, care, or residential settings
  • Demonstrate patience, resilience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential
  • Be confident managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
  • Be available to work full-time from September
