Tradewind Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant for a specialist primary setting in Rochdale. This is a full-time, long-term temporary role starting May 2026. The school supports pupils aged 3-11 with a wide range of complex needs including Autism, SEMH, communication difficulties, sensory needs and severe learning difficulties. Due to the needs of the pupils, previous experience working within a SEND school or specialist provision is essential. Applications from candidates without relevant SEND experience will not be considered.
The Role
- Full-time SEND Teaching Assistant in a specialist primary setting
- Supporting pupils with complex SEMH and SEND needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Managing behaviour, emotions and regulation strategies to support learning
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and wider support staff
- Supporting EHCP targets and individual learning plans
- Building positive, consistent relationships with pupils who can present with challenging behaviour
- Recording progress, incidents and interventions where required

- Provide a full employment and education history with references
- Have the legal right to work in the UK
