Tradewind are seeking a resilient, creative, and nurturing SEN Teacher to lead a Sensory Senior Class at a highly regarded SEN School in Chorley. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with older students who have complex needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
The Role:
- Lead a specialised sensory-based curriculum tailored to senior students with complex needs.
- Focus on life skills, communication, and physical wellbeing through sensory stories, hydrotherapy, and tactile learning.
- Manage and lead a team of Teaching Assistants to ensure a high standard of holistic care and education.
- Assess and track progress using small-step frameworks (e.g., P-Levels or Engagement Model).
- Collaborate with parents, carers, and external therapists (SALT, Physio, OT).
The Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Proven experience working within an SEN setting, specifically with sensory learners or students with SLD/PMLD.
- Strong understanding of sensory integration and non-verbal communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton).
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with the ability to manage complex behaviours and medical needs.
- Commitment to a full-time, 5-day-a-week schedule.
