Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a leading SEMH School in Burnley, supporting secondary-aged pupils who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. The school is seeking a resilient and proactive Teaching Assistant / Youth Worker / Graduate to join their team. This role is perfect for someone who wants to make a genuine impact on the lives of young people who have faced challenges in mainstream education. You will be working in an environment that values patience, resilience, and the ability to build strong, professional bonds with students.
The Role:
- 1:1 Mentoring: Supporting secondary pupils who may display challenging behaviour and disengagement from learning.
- Behaviour Support: Implementing de-escalation strategies and helping pupils develop emotional regulation skills.
- Academic Support: Assisting students in accessing a tailored curriculum in a calm, consistent classroom setting.
- Team Collaboration: Working alongside teachers and therapeutic staff to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.

- Resilient & Confident: Able to handle challenging situations with a calm "reset" mentality.
- Experienced or Ambitious: Previous experience in Youth Work, SEN, or a background in Sports/Coaching is highly valued. We also welcome Graduates looking to build a career in SEMH.
- Available: Ready to commit to the 08:30 - 15:30 schedule, providing much-needed consistency for the pupils.
