We are seeking a reliable, experienced and proactive Premises Officer / Caretaker to join a welcoming network of secondary schools across Bromley. This is a full-time, permanent position working five days per week, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to well-maintained, safe and inspiring learning environments.
About the Role
As a key member of the site team, you will play an essential role in ensuring that school premises are safe, secure, clean, and fully operational throughout the school day. You will take pride in maintaining high standards across buildings and grounds, supporting staff and students, and responding efficiently to day-to-day site needs. This role will involve working across secondary school settings within Bromley, providing consistent and professional premises support in a dynamic educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day maintenance, security, and cleanliness of school buildings and grounds
- Carry out basic repairs, maintenance tasks, and routine inspections
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and school policies
- Manage site security, including opening and closing of premises
- Liaise with contractors and external services when required
- Support site operations for school events and activities
- Identify and report maintenance issues promptly
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Premises Officer, Caretaker, or similar facilities role (essential)
- Strong practical knowledge of building maintenance, health and safety, and site operations
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Good communication and organisational skills
- A proactive, reliable, and hands-on approach to work
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- A degree or higher-level qualification is preferred but not essential. Candidates with strong relevant experience and a proven track record in school or public sector premises management are strongly encouraged to apply.
