Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking a dedicated, resilient, and passionate SEN Teacher to join a highly supportive Special Educational Needs school in Brent. This specialist setting caters for children and young people aged 3-19 with a range of complex needs, including severe learning difficulties (SLD), autism spectrum conditions, physical disabilities, and associated communication and sensory needs. The school provides a highly personalised, nurturing learning environment focused on developing independence, communication, life skills, and emotional wellbeing.
We are looking for a teacher who is confident adapting learning to meet a wide range of abilities and who can deliver engaging, meaningful lessons within a highly differentiated curriculum.
The Role:
- Planning and delivering tailored lessons based on individual EHCP targets
- Teaching pupils with complex learning needs in small classes or specialist groups
- Using sensory-based and multi-sensory approaches to learning
- Differentiating curriculum content to support varied developmental levels
- Supporting communication development using visual aids, PECS, Makaton, or AAC where appropriate
- Working closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, and pastoral staff
- Monitoring progress and contributing to EHCP reviews and assessments
- Creating a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience working within SEN, special schools, or inclusive mainstream settings
- Strong understanding of SLD, autism, and complex learning needs
- The ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent in challenging situations
- Excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- Creativity in delivering accessible and engaging learning experiences
- A genuine passion for inclusive education and improving pupil outcomes
