Chemistry Graduate Teaching Assistant - Role Overview
- Supporting students in Chemistry and Science lessons, including practical and theory-based activities.
- Working with small groups and 1:1 to raise attainment and build confidence, particularly in GCSE Chemistry.
- Assisting teachers with lesson delivery, practical experiments, resources, and classroom management.
- Providing targeted support for students with additional learning needs or SEN.
- Helping students with homework, coursework, and exam preparation.
- Encouraging engagement, participation, and positive behaviour in lessons.
- Supporting practical lessons, including preparation and supervision of experiments (training provided).
- Supervising or covering classes when required.
Requirements
- A degree in Chemistry or a closely related science.
- A strong interest in education and supporting young people.
- Confidence supporting KS3 and KS4 Science/Chemistry content.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, patient, and supportive approach.
- Previous experience working with young people or in a school setting is desirable but not essential.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
