We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school team in Bolton. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome behavioural and emotional barriers to learning and thrive both academically and socially. The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who require additional behavioural support, either on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. You will play a vital role in promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning, while helping to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive school environment.
Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour, social, emotional, or mental health needs
- Implementing behaviour support strategies and individual behaviour plans
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional well-being throughout the school day
- Working collaboratively with class teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
- Supporting pupils during lessons, break times, and transitions
- Encouraging independence, resilience, and positive relationships with peers
- Recording and reporting progress, incidents, and achievements where appropriate
Qualifications and Skills
- Has experience working with children with behavioural needs (school or alternative settings)
- Is calm, patient, and resilient, with a positive and proactive approach
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills
- Can build trusting relationships with pupils and adults
- Understands the importance of safeguarding and child welfare
- Holds a relevant qualification or is willing to undertake training (desirable but not essential)
