Blackpool Secondary Academy is seeking a Cover & Pastoral Support Officer to join our team immediately. This unique hybrid role is designed for someone who thrives on variety. You will bridge the gap between the classroom and student well-being, ensuring that learning never stops when a teacher is absent, while providing vital pastoral intervention to help our students succeed.
Classroom Cover & Learning Support
- Lead classroom sessions across various subjects when permanent staff are unavailable, ensuring students remain on task and engaged.
- Maintain a calm, productive learning environment by implementing the school's behaviour policy.
- Act as a key point of contact for students requiring emotional or behavioural support throughout the day.
- Facilitate small-group interventions or 1:1 "check-ins" to help students overcome barriers to learning.
- Support the reintegration of students back into the classroom following periods of absence or exclusion.
Experience: Previous experience working with young people (Secondary age) in an educational, coaching, or youth-work capacity.
Resilience: The ability to handle challenging behaviour with a calm, firm, and fair approach. Someone who can pivot from leading a history lesson to supporting a student in distress at a moment's notice.
Available for an urgent start and committed to the role until July 2026.
