A supportive secondary school in Blackpool is recruiting a dedicated 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support to a student with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) starting this September 2026. In this targeted role, you will work closely with a Key Stage 3 / Key Stage 4 pupil diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), helping them access the curriculum, regulate sensory and emotional needs, and build lasting academic confidence. Position Overview: Job Title: 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant (EHCP Support - ASC / ADHD) Location: Blackpool, Lancashire (Easily accessible via M55, local bus routes, and Blackpool rail links) Start Date: September 2026 Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Term-time only - 30 to 32.5 hours/week) Pay Rate: £85.00 - £100.00+ per day (PAYE, based on experience and SEND qualifications) Contract: Full-time, long-term placement for the 2026/27 academic year with permanent contract routes Key Responsibilities: Personalised 1:1 Support: Provide consistent, structured learning support to a designated secondary student across academic subjects. Task Differentiation & Focus: Break down complex instructions into manageable steps, using visual timetables, chunked tasks, and focus strategies to support ADHD attention spans. Sensory & Emotional Regulation: Identify early signs of sensory overload or anxiety, implementing planned movement breaks, low-arousal techniques, and quiet-space strategies. Promoting Social Independence: Support positive peer interactions during group work and unstructured break times while encouraging independent problem-solving skills. EHCP Milestone Tracking: Work in partnership with subject teachers, the SENCO, and outside specialists to monitor targets and document daily progress. Ideal Candidate Profile: Demonstrated experience supporting secondary-aged young people with Autism (ASC), ADHD, or related neurodivergent profiles. Calm, reassuring, and consistent approach with a genuine understanding of neurodiverse learning styles. Background in school SEND support, healthcare/care, youth work, or relevant psychology/education degrees. Certified training in de-escalation or positive handling (e.g., Team Teach, CPI, MAPA) is advantageous. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to process a check before September).
