Pay: £13.68 - £14.20 per hour

Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Hours: 08:45 - 15:30 (Monday to Friday)

About the Role

We are currently seeking a patient and enthusiastic individual to join a vibrant Year 1 class within a primary school in the BB1 area. This role is pivotal in helping pupils transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) into the more structured environment of Key Stage 1. You will play a key part in the classroom, supporting children as they develop essential literacy and numeracy skills in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Phonics & Reading: Delivering tailored interventions to boost confidence and fluency.
  • Maths Support: Assisting small groups with early numeracy and problem-solving.
  • 1:1 Pupil Support: Working with children who have additional learning needs or require extra encouragement.
  • Classroom Organisation: Assisting the Class Teacher with preparing resources and maintaining an engaging learning space.
  • Lunchtime Supervision: Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of pupils during their 30-minute break.

Candidate Requirements

  • Recent experience working with children in a UK school or childcare setting.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (highly desirable).
  • A firm but fair approach with an understanding of positive behaviour management.
  • Reliability and a commitment to the BB1 Blackburn area.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
