Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a wonderful 1-form entry primary school located in Leigh.
This is a full-time, temporary position starting in September 2026 and running until December 2026.
For the right candidate, there is a strong potential for this role to extend further into the academic year.
As a KS1 Teaching Assistant in a 1-form entry school, you will enjoy being part of a close-knit, family-feel team where every child is known and valued.
You will play a vital role in supporting the class teacher, delivering small group interventions (focusing on phonics, reading, and early maths), and providing 1:1 support where needed to help pupils thrive during these crucial early years of education.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons aligned with the KS1 curriculum.
- Leading small group interventions in Phonics (Read Write Inc. or similar), reading, and numeracy.
- Creating a safe, positive, and stimulating learning environment.
- Assisting with classroom management and preparing learning resources.
- Monitoring and reporting on pupil progress to the class teacher.
- What We Are Looking For
- A minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience).
- Prior experience working within Key Stage 1 (KS1) is highly desirable.
- A strong understanding of early literacy, phonics, and numeracy development.
- A current Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or the willingness to apply for one).
- Professional references.
- Legal right to work in the UK.
