Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming and well‑regarded secondary school in Brent that is seeking a Biology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis, starting ASAP. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience while supporting students across the Science department, with a focus on Biology.

Role Overview

As a Biology Graduate TA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across KS3 and KS4 Science, particularly Biology.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting students in Biology and Science lessons, including practical and theory‑based learning.
  • Working with small groups and 1:1 to raise attainment and build confidence, particularly in GCSE Biology.
  • Assisting teachers with lesson delivery, practical experiments, resources, and classroom management.
  • Supporting laboratory‑based lessons, including preparation of equipment and supervision of practical activities (training provided).
  • Providing targeted support for students with additional learning needs or SEN.
  • Helping students with homework, coursework, and exam preparation.
  • Encouraging engagement, participation, and positive behaviour in lessons.
  • Supervising or covering classes when required.

Requirements

  • A degree in Biology or a closely related life science.
  • A strong interest in education and supporting young people.
  • Confidence supporting KS3 and KS4 Biology/Science content.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive, patient, and supportive approach.
  • Previous experience working with young people or in a school setting is desirable but not essential.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
