Turn Your Passion into a Career - Become a Learning Mentor in Rochdale with Tradewind.

Do you have a background in youth work, community groups, drama or dance clubs? Are you passionate about supporting teenagers facing real challenges?

Tradewind Recruitment is hiring Learning Mentors for a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Rochdale, working with teenagers aged 11-18, many of whom are in care or come from disruptive home environments. These full-time roles start immediately with strong potential to become permanent.

The Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Offer consistent mentoring, intervention, and emotional guidance.
  • Support teenagers in building self-esteem, focus, and resilience.
  • Be a positive, trusted adult role model in their day-to-day school life.
  • Work as part of a close-knit team committed to long-term change.

Working Hours:

Monday to Thursday: 8:30 am - 3:15 pm
Friday: 8:30 am - 1:45 pm

These are full-time, temporary roles with a strong chance of becoming permanent. Please note: These roles cannot be offered part-time. Due to the complex SEMH needs of the students, consistency is absolutely vital. Interruptions or gaps in support can severely impact a young person's progress, and in some cases, have been linked to serious declines in mental health or crisis situations. We are therefore looking for individuals who are committed, reliable, and understand the importance of providing steady, ongoing support for vulnerable young people.

Ideal Background:

  • Experience working with teenagers in schools, community groups, youth projects, or performing arts settings.
  • A calm and supportive approach to behaviour and emotional needs.
  • Strong listening skills, patience, and emotional intelligence.
  • An understanding of trauma, attachment issues, or SEMH challenges.
  • TA qualifications are helpful but not essential - full training is provided.

Why Join Tradewind?

  • Competitive daily pay.
  • Access to 2,500+ free CPD courses (including mental health and behaviour support).
  • Personal interview coaching and job prep.
  • Local, in-house payroll (no umbrella companies).
  • Holiday pay options.
  • Referral bonuses.
  • Free networking and social events.
