About the Role
Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded secondary school in North Yorkshire, seeking a talented and enthusiastic English Teacher to join their successful department from September 2026 until Christmas 2026. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive and ambitious school environment, delivering high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop a love of literature and language while building the literacy, analytical, and communication skills required for academic success. The school is committed to providing a positive learning environment where both students and staff can thrive. Applications are welcomed from experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who are passionate about delivering engaging and effective English lessons.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Assess, monitor, and support student progress
- Create a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement
- Differentiating learning to meet the needs of all students
- Prepare students for internal assessments and GCSE examinations
- Contribute positively to the wider school community

Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching English within a UK secondary school
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for English Language and Literature
- The ability to engage and motivate learners of varying abilities
- Two professional references covering the last two years
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- A proactive, reliable, and adaptable approach to teaching
