Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to work in a range of specialist schools across the Wirral from September 2026. We're looking for compassionate, resilient and dedicated individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs. These roles are ideal for experienced SEND Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Support Workers, Care Practitioners and graduates looking to build a long‑term career within special education.
The schools we work with support pupils with a variety of needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
- Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs
- Complex and Multiple Learning Needs
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small groups
- Help implement personalised learning and support plans
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Work closely with teachers and wider multidisciplinary teams
- Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment
We Are Looking For
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND
- Experience within schools, care settings, residential settings, youth work or support work
- A calm, patient and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
- A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential
